Design, material and treatments are the three components that make up a pair of prescription lenses. It is important to select the right combination of these elements for your particular visual needs, and our expert opticians will work with your doctor to make the best recommendation for you. Selecting the right eyeglass lens depends largely on its function. From single vision lenses to progressive polycarbonate lenses, we will find what meets your needs. Regardless of your situation, we can help determine what types of lenses will work best for you in terms of comfort, function and design. We utilize the latest in lens technology to make sure you are seeing your best with quality lens materials and lens design.
Wearers of prescription glasses and sunglasses commonly encounter annoying glare and reflections caused by light bouncing off their lenses. This glare makes it more difficult to see, especially at night. Anti-reflective lenses reduce these reflections allowing more light to pass through to your eyes.
All lens surfaces naturally reflect light and this reflection can prevent between seven to 14 percent of the light needed for optimal vision. Wearing non-AR lenses is like trying to read a book in a dimly lit room. Since AR lenses allow more light to reach your eyes by reducing reflections, it’s like turning up the lights in a room, making it easier to see.

Maui Jim got its start in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Seeing a need in the market for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colors of the island to life, we engineered the revolutionary PolarizedPlus2® lens. Incorporated into seven new sunglass styles, our Classic Collection was introduced. We now offer over 125 styles of sunglasses, 100% of which are polarized and protect from 100% of UVA and UVB rays.

Article One is an independent Michigan-based eyewear company. Article One frames are handmade in a small village in Northern Italy at the base of the Dolomites. The family-owned factory we work with has 12 craftsman who are experts in what they do. We work to give credit where credit is due by shining a light on the hands that touch each frame. Article One was founded to raise awareness and funding for Vitamin A deficiency in developing nations. We accomplish this mission by donating a portion of each pair sold to Helen Keller International. Most people are unaware that about 500,000 children globally go blind each year from Vitamin A deficiency, and half of those children die within 12 months as a result of Vitamin A deficiency. Even more astounding, it costs just one dollar for a year’s worth of supplements for one child. That means a one dollar donation to Helen Keller International will ensure at least one child will not die or go blind from vitamin A deficiency. Article One donates $2 from each sale to Helen Keller International, and to date has raised over $12k for the foundation.

This is a story that begins more than forty years ago in a territory in which the production of eyewear is an ancient knowledge and where it is continued ever since in an establishment in which the production of titanium eyewear is a modern art.
Not only can we say with pride that every frame is 100% conceived and produced in Italy, but we can also add that what makes a Blackfin frame so special is the way it’s made. It’s the creation of all of us working together, in the same place, always ready to discuss things and help and stimulate each other.
With the wide variety of lens options available, you can customize your “sunnies” (sunglasses) to meet your visual, protection, performance and comfort needs. Sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which is present even on cloudy days. Quality sun-wear provides 100 percent UV protection and can significantly reduce the risk of vision problems caused by sunlight such as cataracts and retinal damage.
Glare, an issue that makes it difficult to see objects clearly by washing out colors and details, can be combated by polarized lenses. Looking at a scene with polarized lenses, you’ll notice the colors are deeper, richer and bolder, and details are clearer and more distinct. Polarized lenses also help reduce squinting, which, in turn, reduces eye fatigue, tension and eyestrain.
Sunglasses at West Michigan Eyecare Associates can be ordered with or without a prescription, from great companies such as Maui Jim, RayBan, INVU, Shwood Handcrafted, UnderArmour, Nike, Adidas, Coach, Juicy, and Kate Spade. Whatever your personal style, we have sunglasses for you.
